April 2026 Business Tax Deadlines | Adkin CPA

April is the Super Bowl for your books. At Adkin CPA, our goal is to give North Carolina small businesses a clear picture of their tax position with zero surprises. Here are the critical April 2026 tax deadlines you need to track.

April 15: C-Corps and Fiduciary Returns

C-Corporations: Calendar-year C-corps must file their 2025 income tax returns (Form 1120) and pay any taxes owed. To secure an automatic six-month extension, submit Form 7004 and deposit your estimated tax liability. Remember, extensions apply to filing, not paying. The first installment for 2026 corporate estimated taxes is also due.

Fiduciary Returns: Timely file your 2025 calendar-year estate and trust returns (Form 1041) or request an extension.

Payroll & Withholding Deadlines

April 15: For businesses under the monthly deposit rule, deposit Social Security, Medicare, withheld income tax, and non-payroll withholding for March.

April 30: File Form 941 for Q1 2026. Deposit any undeposited tax, or pay in full with your return if liability is under $2,500. Also, deposit Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA) owed through March if it exceeds $500.

Holidays and Disasters

Due dates falling on weekends or holidays automatically shift to the next business day. Businesses in designated disaster areas often receive extensions. Verify your region's status via FEMA and the IRS.
